GORONTALO, iNews.id – Fire took place in the Headquarters Building Gorontalo Regional PoliceThursday (31/10/2024) early morning. Flames soaring high from the third floor of the building.

In the video seen by iNews, flames can be seen from outside at the top of the building. Then another video shows personnel panic when they saw the fire had spread inside the room on the third floor.

However, it is certain that the fire did not spread to the entire building. Gorontalo Regional Government firefighters managed to finish the fire 2 hours after the incident.

Head of Public Relations of the Gorontalo Police, Commissioner Pol Desmont Harjendro, said the fire occurred at 00.45 WITA.

“What caught fire was in the Ops Bureau room on the third floor,” he said, Thursday (31/10/2024).

It was said that the chronology of the incident was based on the witness's statement, that initially he heard voices and screams from picket members. After that, several personnel came to the scene and saw the fire that had spread.

“Approximately 10 rooms on the third floor were burned. The Ops Bureau room, for the narcotics and intelligence work unit rooms, was not burned, only part of the roof was burned,” he said.

Meanwhile, regarding the source, he admitted that officers were still carrying out investigations. This also includes the impact and material losses due to this fire.

“The investigation is still being carried out and we will update the results later,” he said.

Desmont confirmed there were no victims in this fire. Detainees at the Gorontalo Regional Police have also been temporarily evacuated.
