JAKARTA, iNews.id – How to pay pray What is left behind is very important for every Muslim to understand so that they can fulfill their obligations properly.

In some conditions, a person may miss the obligatory prayer, either by accident, such as forgetting or falling asleep, or on purpose.

For those who accidentally miss it, the scholars agree that they must immediately make up for the prayer, so remember.

However, there are differences of opinion among ulama regarding the qadha law for those who miss prayer intentionally.

The following will explain the practical procedures and guidelines for paying for missed prayers, including when and how the qadha prayer is carried out, reported by iNews.id from the Muslim page:

How to Pay for Missing Prayers

Ruling on Missed Prayer Qadha

Qadha prayer is performing prayers outside the time as a substitute for prayers that are not performed on time. Is the qadha prayer obligatory? The scholars differentiate the law in two conditions:

Accidentally Missing Prayer

In the case of accidentally leaving the prayer, for example because of falling asleep, forgetting, or fainting, the scholars agree that the qadha of the prayer is obligatory. This is based on the words of the Prophet sallallaahu 'alaihi Wasallam:

من نام عن صلاة أو نسيها؛ This is a good thing

“Whoever misses prayer because he slept or forgot, he should perform it when he remembers” (HR. Al-Bazzar 13/21, authentic).

1. Misconceptions about Missed Morning Prayers

Some ordinary people think that if you wake up late, you don't need to do the morning prayer because the time is up. This is a misconception!

2. Deliberately leaving prayer

Scholars have different opinions regarding people who deliberately miss prayers. Most clerics predict leaving Islam, while others do not. They also disagree about whether the person is obliged to make up for the prayer or not. A stronger opinion (rajih) states that the prayer does not need to be made up. Imam Ibn Hazm Al-Andalusi believes:

“As for the person who deliberately misses the prayer until it is out of time, he will not be able to make up for it. So he should increase his good deeds and sunnah prayers so that he can burden his deeds on the day of rest, and repent and ask forgiveness from Allah Azza wa Jalla” (Al-Muhalla), 2/10, Asy-Syamilah).

He also emphasized:

God willing ا God's opinion ا God's opinion ا الِ A. ; لْقَوْنedit غَيًّا} (مريم: 59)

“The proof of the truth of our opinion is the word of Allah Ta'ala: 'Woe to those who pray, those who are negligent in their prayer' (QS. Al-Ma'un: 4-5), and His word: 'Then a generation will come after those who wasting their prayers and following their desires, they will go astray' (QS. Maryam: 59).

He continued, if someone who deliberately neglects prayer can make up for it, he will not face the threat of accidents and health. Moreover, Allah has set a certain time limit for each prayer, and there is no difference between prayers performed before the time or after; both of them violate the limits that God has set.

Allah says:

“Whoever goes beyond Allah's limits, he has indeed wronged himself” (QS. Ath-Thalaq: 1).

Apart from that, the obligation of qadha must be based on the provisions of the Shari'a through revelations brought by the Prophet, not based on human opinion.

How to Make Up Prayers

In terms of time, the qadha prayer must be performed as soon as someone remembers or is aware. Can't postpone it. The Prophet sallallaahu 'alaihi Wasallam said:

من نامَ عن صلاةٍ فليصلِّها إذا ذَكرَها

“Whoever falls asleep and misses the prayer, he should perform it while remembering” (HR. Al-Bazzar 13/21, authentic).

What if more than one prayer is missed?

Does the prayer have to be recited according to its original time (for example, the Dhuhr prayer is qadhaed at the time of Dhuhr)? Shaykh Muhammad bin Salih Al-Utsaimin answered:

Prayers for success

“Missed prayers are done at once. When the Prophet sallallaahu 'alaihi Wasallam missed the Asr prayer during the Khandaq War, he made up for it before Maghrib. Likewise, everyone who misses prayer must do it at once without completing it.”

In this hadith, the Prophet used dhamir ها which refers to missed prayers. This shows that the qadha prayer must be the same as the actual prayer, both in terms of procedure and nature.

If someone misses the Fajr prayer because he fell asleep, he is obliged to make up for it by performing the complete Fajr prayer. There is no need to recite specific intentions, because intentions are actions of the heart. If reciting the qadha intention was necessary, the Prophet sallallaahu 'alaihi Wasallam would have taught it to us.
