PINRANG, iNews.id – Team Combined SAR finally stopped the search for the young man lost drowned in Fort Dam, Pinrang RegencySouth Sulawesi. The official search operation was terminated after 7 days of producing no results.

The identity of the victim is known as Jihad Ramadhan (22) who disappeared after jumping from the Benteng Dam, Saturday (2/11/2024). At that time the victim was swimming with his friends.

Head of the Operations and Alert Section of the Makassar Search and Rescue Office (Basarnas), Andi Sultan, said that, together with the SAR potential, he had carried out a maximum search by exploring along the Sa'dan River, Pinrang Regency.

“Until today, the seventh day, our joint SAR team (Basarnas Makassar and Potential Sar) has carried out a search for drowned victims and has produced no results,” he said, Saturday (9/11/2024).

During the search process, officers experienced several obstacles in the field, namely heavy rainfall, the river's depth was uneven, so the rubber boat ran aground several times.

“There are even crocodiles around the edge of the river,” he said.

Sultan explained that with a fairly large search area, the SAR team was combined into three Search Rescue Units (SRU). The third team searched along the Sa'dan River for 10 kilometers, both from land and water.

However, until Friday afternoon they had not found any clues about the whereabouts of the victim under the name Jihad Ramadhan, he said.

After the evaluation and briefing process, the extinguishing operation was carried out by SAR officers through a joint signing with the victim's family and witnessed by the agencies and organizations involved.

“SAR operations were officially stopped and closed at 17.00 WITA,” he said.
