South Korean fishing boat sinks, 12 crew members missing, including 2 Indonesian citizens
SEOUL, iNews.id – Fishing vessels South Korea (South Korea) drowned on Jeju Island, Friday (8/11/2024), involving two people. There were 27 people on board the ship, 15 of whom were found.

Two of the victims who died were South Korean citizens, one of whom was rescued but his life could not be saved when he arrived at the hospital. One other victim was found dead.
Jeju Coast Guard official Chung Moo Won said that his party received notification from a place where the victims were found, namely at around 04.30 local time.

The Jeju Coast Guard, assisted by other authorities, immediately carried out rescue operations.
A total of 43 ships, including three South Korean Navy ships, 13 aircraft and several deep diving vessels were deployed for the search.
“We express our condolences to the bereaved families and will make maximum efforts to find the missing victims by mobilizing all equipment and resources,” Chung said, as quoted by Reuters.
President of South Korea Yoon Suk Yeol also ordered the mobilization of all available resources for the search and ensuring that survivors were well served.
Prime Minister Han Duck Soo also asked the Ministry of Defense (Kemhan) to provide aircraft and beacons to assist with night search operations.
One victim said he was safe, the boat had capsized before sinking while lifting fishing nets to transfer the catch to other people.
The exact cause of the accident is not yet known, the investigation is still ongoing.
