HANOI, iNews.id – Vietnam is scared Indonesian National Team will field the strongest team in 2024 AFF Cup.

Championship which is now named ASEAN Cup 2024 it will roll out in December 2024. Previously it was circulated that the Indonesian national team would be led Shin Tae-yong (STY) at the regional event. Apart from that, Indonesia will only send an U-22 team or only League 1 players. This is because STY and the main team will focus on fighting in the 2026 World Cup Qualifications in the Asian zone.

However, because the AFF Cup schedule was shifted to December, PSSI finally changed its attitude. STY will continue to coach the team. Apart from that, the South Korean coach also gave freedom in selecting players. However, PSSI has not set a target for the Indonesian National Team in that event.

“We haven't talked about it (about the target in the AFF Cup),” said Executive Committee (Exco) member Arya Sinulingga, Wednesday (30/10/2024).

“The players are up to Shin Tae-yong, availability please. “So we don't want to interfere, it's up to Shin Tae-yong to decide which one he wants as the coach,” said Arya.

The 2024 ASEAN Cup will start from 8 December 2024 to 5 January 2025. The Indonesian national team is in Group B with Myanmar, the Philippines, Laos and Vietnam.
